So it's been a minute, I haven't written, whatever... be honest have you even checked out this recently? No, you haven't so technicially, it's a win win situation.
Today's Thanksgiving, and should I really take this time to reflect? .... Nawww.. just because it's a holiday, I shouldn't take a time out NOW!!!... I'll just say this...

Hello and welcome to another entry of MY MADNESS. Once again, THANK YOU ALL for the love!! So many people are telling me that they are reading the blog. Now if I can just get you to RESPOND!!! I’LL be cool. But a SPECIAL shout out to my boy RAFAEL, who keeps it SOOOO REAL!!! (Although it may hurt), YOU cannot fault HIM.

Once again, I was speaking with a fellow CBK’er and we really had an opportunity to catch up. It had been a minute since we had the opportunity to speak over the phone, but we really had a positive conversation. I think it was an opportunity for us to realize that we are NOT ALONE in the obstacles we go through as adults. Now as we continue our catch up, I could hear her child ALL UP IN THE BACKGROUND… playing, talking, crying, etc...and it had me think about ALL MY OTHER CBK’ers who have children and they are SINGLE PARENTS as well, and I had a light bulb moment, if you will.

So this question is for YA’LL.. CBK’S, how upset do you get when your child makes you mad, and you really want to do something (like whoop ‘em), but in THAT MOMENT, RIGHT THERE, you think…. DAMMIT you look JUST LIKE YOUR DADDY (or MOTHER)!!! Especially if you don’t like said parent, HAHAHAHA… I actually had that revelation myself with my little cousin the other day. She said something foul that REALLY bothered me (she’s 10) and I was really about to tell her about herself, when all of a sudden I SAW HER FATHER in her FACE!!! Swear, and I realized, I was really bugging.. and I thought, I KNOW my fellow CBK’ers have experienced this one RIGHT HERE. Especially if you are like my fellow CBK’er in the IE, who’s little girl ADDORES HER FATHER!!! So what do you do? Cause as you look at them, you realize, IT’S BECAUSE OF YOUR FATHER/MOTHER WE ARE HERE LIVING UNDER KIM’S ROOF!! Well for me, I had to step away from her, cause I was REALLY about to take it there (and I REALLY don’t know where THERE exactly IS but I digress..) and I had to tell myself, its not her fault she looks like him. And if she wasn’t in my life, I REALLY don’t know what/where I would be. So do I thank him for having her? Isn’t that just encouraging his trifling ways? So CBK’s how do you deal with the “LOOK LIKE “ and STILL figure out a way to keep KIM out of your BUSINESS...

CBK's we have GOT to do better!!!

Hello my fellow friends. Man what about this sun!!! Yes, summer is in the BUILDING, but most IMPORTANTLY….are you in summertime shape? You remember going out with your friends to the club, grabbing a late night breakfast afterwards then going home to sleep. Well, let’s be honest, we are getting older, so eating and drinking then falling asleep IS NOT THE WAY TO GO for you, me, or any of us for that matter.

With that it had me thinking about my actions and thoughts this past weekend. So Kim goes out of town. Well, since she’s gone for the weekend. You know WE HAD to have a “get together. Ok, when I say get together, I MEAN A PARTY!!! (side bar) was it lame to throw a party in THEIR HOME, while THEY WHERE GONE?

(back to story) Now when you are feeding over 40 adults you KNOW you have to get something CHEAP and EASY for the folks to eat. So of course, FRIED CHICKEN is definitely the way we go!!!

As we older CBK’s sat around talking that night, we began dialoguing (low key, hating) on the younger skinner CBK’s in the area. And it got me to thinking about what my Kim used to tell me ALL THE TIME. You know, those encouraging words that go like this…”CBK, girl your butt is looking a little too big in those jeans.” “You need to watch what you are eating.”... Yep, she would flat out tell me that!

So to my older CBK’s (with the exception of J.Robinson, because you ain’t gonna ever have this problem, ha).. what are you doing to stay in shape? Are you like C. Cooper who loves to work out? Yes she can personally train you, for a low low fee. Shout out the e-mail in the comment section.. Or are you a K. Wade, or A. Adair (naturally in shape), so working out now or working out three years from now, you still look like you are in shape….MIND YOU, THEY HAVE CHILDREN. Or are you like me, you are NOT in shape, you know it and you STILL aren’t changing much about your eating habits? You know, like you won’t drink soda, but will KILL a Carmel Apple Martini from the Grand Lux in a HOT MINUTE….at anytime of the day!!!

I’m telling you CBK’s at some point, we have GOT TO DO BETTER and GET IT TOGETHER.!!!

KIM, and the debate of the “Great Sneak In”

Soooo “CBK’s” now that we have had a moment of time to stand still with ALL this reflecting, and dying that celebrities have been doing as of late, let’s get BACK to BUSINESS. Being a CBK. Now, before I begin, I must shout out my Texas support… hahahaha, hey K.Wade, thanks for the love!! Continue to keep reading and leave a comment… WHEN YOU ARE NOT AT WORK!!
But this particular post is dedicated to the many of my CBK’s who have issues with sneakin’ ‘em in!! What is the sneak in? Well it goes like this, now of course being a CBK does NOT mean that our “lives” become completely ignored. Now when I talk about our lives, I mean our company. Now let me clarify, when I say company, I mean our “friends” of the opposite sex, coming by.
So my story begins like this, I am chatting with a fellow “CBK,” who wants to have “company” stop by, however, does NOT want the hassle of KIM ALL in the BUSINESS!! Now of course, I am thinking this could be a great topic for my blog, but I also feel as though I need to assist in coming up with.. (a) How are we going to get in/out of Kim’s house DISCRETLEY and (b) How high school is this? I mean REALLY?
Now of course, in the end, everything worked itself out. But I really had to reflect and think. CBK’s, what are we going to do? What is it that you do? Does Kim allow you to have company? Can they spend the night? Do we call it spending the night as adults? Are you a student of the daytime sneak in (DSI, if you will)? You know having guest over when EVERYONE, except you, are working. Hahahaha, you KNOW who YOU are!! Or are you one of those CBK’s who does your sneak in, between 1:00am-4:00am, when everyone else is sleeping?
..you REALLY know who you are!!!!

An open scribe to KIM

As many of you know, I WAS DOWN, I MEAN DOWN… I had to go to the hospital, but all is well. So since I had nothing but time to watch the news (RIP my boy MJ), I decided to really think about his Kim, my Kim and how is the “original” Kim is holding up (she too was down, like me).
And I came up with this poem.. (if you will)
Oh Kim the way you love me is insurmountable and true. When I was down, in trouble, needed support, you ALWAYS came through. I don’t know who I could depend on if there were no YOU!!
You may have choice words when I make mistakes, but YOU allow me to.
For this I must say, when I get upset or exhausted of your ways, just know that I really do LOVE YOU!!!
So my story goes as follows…When I was in the hospital recently, my Kim WASHED ME UP!!! You know those old skol wash ups!!! She look a rag, got a bucket filled it with water and got to scrubbing me down. And I knew then guys… SHE LOVES ME!!
Alright everybody, here is your opportunity to tell your Kim you LOVE HER! Do you have a most recent experience that your Kim reassured her love for you?

Kim, and her NUGGETS of KNOWLEDGE!!!

Once again, I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE… PROFUSLY.. I mean like really?.. Three weeks, and I couldn’t even give at least one entry. I mean, I didn’t know that it was going to be this time consuming, truth be told.. BUT IT IA WUT IT IAA..

Anyway, I have gotten so much LOVE about the website.. I decided to continue in my quest of sharing the short stories of others CBK's.

Soooo, what exactly is a nugget of knowledge, you ask? Well, it’s that RANDOM piece of info that Kim feels so inclined to share…. WITHOUT you asking!!!

You know, the RANDOM questions she may ask as you prepare for your SATURDAY NIGHT. You spend your entire day, getting your fresh haircut/line up, or you get that fresh press/flatwrap (shout out to Andi and Josie). You got those new shoes, and your CORE group of homies who are on the way to pick you up. You are ready TO BE SEEN…

Then here comes KIM, coming into your world to.. SHUT THE MIUSIC IN YOUR HEAD DOWN!!! “Do you have a jacket, you know it’s cold outside.”…

(cricket, cricket)… huh? In that moment, RIGHT THERE, my fellow CBK, you just got hit with KIM’S NUGGET OF KNOWLEDGE!!!

So CBK’s what random nugget of knowledge has Kim given you?

My advice is, if you want to avoid having this conversation EVERYTIME you are going out. Just simply say, “It’s in my car.” Regardless of it’s the truth or not!!!

CHORES... (is that what we call 'em?)

What’s up my fellow friends, I want to start off by thanking those who have responded to me on my comment page. Although Mr. M, you can’t be forreal, I mean REALLY? Well anyway, I am glad we had a discussion about this job search. To be honest, I am searching; I am more focusing on my “contacts” for my search. I don’t like these job search engines, they seem to be too saturated, but, truth be told, my contacts are coming up DRY…
Well many of you know, my Kim went to the hospital, she’s cool, she's fine, but it had me thinking. How often do I tell Kim I love her, the beauty and sanctity of our relationship(at times), but most importantly, is my ROOM CLEAN and ARE THE DISHES PUT UP, BEFORE KIM COMES HOME? Cause you KNOW how Kim HATES coming home and the CHORES aren’t done. So here’s a random thought “COMEBACK” kids, do we call them chores? Do we even have chores? If we keep a dirty room, are we wrong for leaving it the way it is and going out? Personally, my Kim is cool about the room, UNTILL we have a family/friend function about to happen at our house. So “COMEBACK” kids, what does your Kim do? Do you have daily chores? If so, what are you responsible for taking care of? At what age do we STOP calling them CHORES? Do we get paid an allowance?... (I guess living with Kim is technically our allowance huh?).. well, until then guys, if you wanna roof over your heads.
..KEEP CLEANING GUYS!!

THA CRUNCH..!!

Ok COME BACK kids, as you all know, California is B to the R to the O to the K to the E..!! (for ya'll on the IEP's= BROKE.. )
What are we going to do? I mean REALLY?!! At this point, moving out and leaving Kim behind is NOT an option. Where I'ma live? ..womp womp..
So how is the job search/searching going for you? Are you even searching? Are you pretending with your search, because you want to seem proactive with your life? (...and to keep Kim off your back)
Are we spinning our wheels with this economy talk? Is the internet with all these job websites really working? Why do we even have job fairs? Do you think they even work, what purpose do they REALLY serve? Just random thoughts that I think about.
I mean to be a person of seemingly somewhat intelligence, I still for the life of me can't wrap my head around jobs going out to recruit people..and they have no money?
My next question is for the KIM'S (or just Kim, since she may be the only one reading this, HA!).. Do you feel as though your COME BACK kid/s lack motivation in the job search area? Does it frustrate you, or are you empathetic to their situation? ...hhhhmmm...
..till then my COME BACK kids, continue on in your quest of SPINNING YOUR WHEELS.....

What is Kim, and the "COME BACK" KIDS

Let me start off by saying that this was a project I have been thinking about for a while, and when I shared it with Kim, (can I call you Kim) ok Ms. R, she LOVED the idea, (at least I think she did) and I thought, I might as well try it and see what this blogging is about.
So who is Kim? Kim represents our parents, be it mother or father, aunt, uncle, grandmother or grandfather whomever that adult is that YOU "COME BACK" kids live with!!!!
And who are the "COME BACK" kids you ask? Well they would be the 26 and older adult children who move back HOME. You move back home either by yourself , but you bring with you, your boyfirend, girlfriend, dog, fiancee, psuedo fiancee, children, etc. You all know who you are, including me! (Except the boyfriend and children stuff I mentioned) We swore that when we graduated and became adults that we would NEEEVVVEERRRR move back home. Well look at me, you, US, NOW!!
So this blog is an opportunity to share thoughts, ideas, concerns, issues, advice, stories to the "COME BACK" kids, but most importantly an opportunity to let the Kim's in our lives know how much we really still need you, no matter how old we get!!
